Only the finest quality sea salt strictly adhered to centuries-old Balinese salt farming tradition qualifies as Upethi^™ Balinese Sea Salt. No shortcuts! In the ancient Balinese Kingdom, this special salt is a tribute to the kings. Unlike the typical solar evaporation method of salt-making, this Balinese tradition is unique and very labor-intensive. Sea water is drip-filtered in brined sand and stored overnight before final evaporation in carved coconut wood vessels. The result is pure, smaller crystals with medium salty savory notes and no impurities.

Packaged in our special Longevity jar made of thick, durable, unique glass which blocks out damaging light that causes decay. This airtight, light-proof jar blocks out harmful air, moisture, and light, protecting our spices and preserving their freshness.
